- click, "Add." Words to be filtered move down to 'Words' list. This type of list has advantages and disadvantages. It can be advantageous because as many new phrases can be added to the list as are necessary. The downside is that, by not having each step of the add rule process on the same screen, it is difficult for the user to build a mental model of the task because she doesn't have everything laid out in front of her. In other words, only the most expert users will be on the same conceptual level of this system.

While expert users may be able to efficiently perform tasks that haven't been laid out in the open, novices are at a serious disadvantage. This disadvantage would result in serious delays that would not show up in quantitative data gathering methods such as GOMS. - next>>
